Cancer Council

As a proud sponsor and Business Partner of Cancer Council Victoria since 2011, our annual donation assists in the fight against cancer. In addition, through our involvement in campaigns such as Daffodil Day, Biggest Morning Tea and Jeans for Genes Day, we are able to actively contribute to invaluable cancer research in hope of finding a cure. Our Loyalty Program features an option for customers to donate their points to the Cancer Council Victoria as a monetary donation. Mind Blank

Mind Blank empowers people to adopt proactive wellbeing strategies so that no one faces mental health challenges alone. By using innovative, theatre-based programs, they provide safe spaces where young individuals can explore topics like resilience, mental health challenges and help-seeking behaviours in an engaging way. Mind Blank's goal is to empower youth with mental health literacy, wellbeing skills and help-seeking guidance to build healthier futures for themselves & our community. Did you know only 1% of mental health funding is spent on prevention and early intervention strategies? Supporting Mind Blank means contributing to an organisation actively working to prevent suicide (the leading cause of death for young people). Since 2011, we’ve worked with over 55 000 people, won multiple awards for our work and supported the whole-of-government approach to zero suicides. And we are just getting started. Donating to Mind Blank is an investment in the future wellbeing of our next generation.

The Pyjama Foundation

The Pyjama Foundation is transforming the lives of children and young people in care. Every hour 2 vulnerable children enter foster care with more than 45,000 currently in care nationally. The Pyjama Foundation provides children and young people in foster care the opportunity to change the direction of their lives with learning, life skills and confidence. Volunteers called 'Pyjama Angels' are recruited, screened, trained and then matched with a child in care and spend time with them once a week, focusing on learning-based activities. Pyjama Angels read books aloud with their child, play educational games and help children with their homework. Most importantly, the volunteers give foster children a chance to reach their life potential, despite a fragile start. Children in care have the lowest education outcomes nationally. By improving their learning skills, we are making a positive, life-long impact. There are currently 1252 Pyjama Angels currently providing support to these vulnerable children and young people however there are more than 900 eagerly awaiting their own special mentor.
The sad reality:
  • If you grow up in out-of-home care, you are more likely to miss out on school and only 57% of young care leavers (aged 18-25) manage to complete Year 12 or equivalent, compared to the national average of 85%.
  • 35% of young people in state care end up homeless after they turn 18. Within one year, 50% of state care leavers will be unemployed, in jail, homeless or had become a new parent.
  • 40.8% of children in youth detention had also been involved in the child protection system. This means they were 19 times as likely to be in the child protection system compared to the general population.
